2-Phenylethyl Cyanoacrylate
This is a non-blooming, solid cyanoacrylate monomer. It is virtually odourless, but has a slight note of rose oil. The synthesis and characterization of this and some related monomers has been described in Japanese Patent 06192202 (Toagosei Chem Ind. Co. Ltd.). The objective was to produce a low-odour CA without detracting from achievable tensile strength of adhesives derived from it. The monomer was also evaluated in mixtures with Ethyl CA.
