2-Cyanoacrylate represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a 1,2-alkylene group having 2-4 carbon atoms; R.sup.2 is an alkylene group having 2-4 carbon atoms and R.sup.3 is an alkyl group having 1-6 carbon atoms, said 2-cyanoarylates can be anion-polymerized with a slight quantity of water similarly to hitherto known 2-cyanoacrylates, and the resulting cured product is richer in flexibility than the hitherto known ones.

An instant-setting adhesive composition comprising a 2-cyanoacrylate and at least one 1,1-disubstituted diene, the amount of said 1,1-disubstituted diene exceeding 50% by weight based on the total weight of both components. This composition is useful in the same fields as those where conventional 2-cyanoacrylate adhesives have been used, and is excellent in impact resistance, peel resistance, heat resistance and water resistance.

GB2100273

An adhesive composition comprises (a) at least one polymerizable cyanoacrylate monomer, (b) 0.1 to 10% by weight of a polymerizable acrylate ester e.g. allyl methacrylate and (c) 0.1 to 20% by weight of a maleimide derivative of formula wherein R<7> and R<8> are from alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or arkaryl. The compositions may polymerize with ring-opening of the maleimide. They have excellent hot strength properties for long periods at 121 DEG C (250 DEG F) or more.

This invention is directed to a method, a rubber skim stock and a product containing the skim stock having improved adhesion between a metal member and contiguous rubber skim stock. The invention lies in the discovery that improved rubber-to-metal adhesion can be obtained by adding to an otherwise conventional rubber skim stock composition appropriate amounts of a tetracarboxylic dianhydride.
